Elpis

Moonlight filled nights and warm summer days fly by fast in a blur of memories as she

Drowns in the velvety black of the night sky, in the star shine and moonbeams

Out in the fields of asphodel, a phantom sings to her

All dark eyes, dark hair, and transparent skin which shows a red heart

But that heart is barely beating, and black cracks decorate its surface of red glass

The girl doesn’t hear the phantom’s singing, but long-buried memories play on repeat in her head as she puts on her

Brightest smile lighting the world up and sending long forgotten warmth throughout the phantoms body

Stars fill the sky once more as the girl finally lets go, and the phantom opens the hand that once tightly held her in its grasp
